At Ruff Dayz, all dogs who wish to participate in our daycare or cage-free boarding, must first pass a mandatory temperament evaluation. These evaluations are designed to ensure the safety of your dog and the rest of our pack, as we strive to maintain a happy and stress-free environment for everyone. The evaluation allows us to observe key behaviors such as interaction with humans and other dogs, signs of aggression, excessive mounting, destructive tendencies, or severe anxiety and stress. We want to ensure that all dogs are comfortable and happy in their surroundings, so dogs that exhibit behaviors that may disrupt the group dynamic will not be eligible for daycare or cage-free boarding.

The temperament evaluation costs $20 if your dog passes. If your dog does not pass, there is no charge for the evaluation. The process typically lasts between ten minutes to an hour, depending on your dog’s comfort level and sociability. To ensure an accurate assessment, we conduct the evaluations without the presence of pet parents, as dogs may behave differently with their owners around. For dogs over seven months old, we require that they be spayed or neutered before being evaluated. Not all dogs are suited for daycare, and that’s perfectly okay! We also offer alternative options like day boarding during the week or private overnight boarding, ensuring all dogs have a comfortable and suitable space at Ruff Dayz.

Additionally, any dog that has previously passed an evaluation, but has not attended daycare or cage-free boarding for a period of three months or longer, will need to undergo a $20 reevaluation.
